Kyle and I had a "work day" yesterday. Every so often, we block-off our schedules to spend time working on the business together. We evaluate our progress toward our goals, we prognosticate about the coming months (and years), and put our creative minds together on new products and services to help you succeed.
Yesterday, however, we had to log some time on another type of work. I had a truckload of good brome hay delivered. Enough to feed the horses through the rest of the winter. Of course, the delivery guy showed up while Kyle was here (was this coincidence or clever plot?). Being the good sport that he is, Kyle just threw on a pair of work gloves, hopped up on the trailer, and started pitching hay bales into the barn ... where the rest of us lined up to stack them.
With all the hay neatly stacked inside the barn, we pulled off our gloves and sat down on the trailer -- admiring our work. Nothing smells better than fresh hay, nothing looks better than a full winter's stash of hay, and nothing feels better than knowing you're ready for whatever Mother Nature chooses to throw at you this winter. Knowing the horses will not go hungry, that they will find refuge from winter's ravages in warm, dry stalls and full bellies -- well, it's just the best feeling in the world.
It took a lot of heavy lifting, though, to get to that feeling. Heavy lifting and a very big check!
