Do you feel like you are the only person working and the rest of the world is either hiking in a national park or exploring the Italian countryside? You’re not–it just feels that way. But for many estate planning offices, summer is a little bit slower. If you’ve got some extra time on your hands, we have some suggestions to help you embrace this season and prepare for what’s coming next.
Get your social calendar set for the rest of the year. Social media never sleeps, but if your office is dozing, this is the ideal time to build out a calendar that will take you through to the end of the year. Use holidays as starting points, and fill in the rest with relevant information. Don’t worry about getting too far ahead—you can always pivot to add new content.
Update your CRM and reach out to people you haven’t heard from in a while. In a perfect world, this is something you do on a quarterly basis, but if you haven’t reviewed your E2-CRM since, well, since you started using it, a slow season is the time for a thorough review.
What are your competitors doing? Visit their websites and social media pages. Keep in mind that just because they are doing something does not mean its working. Only they know. But this is a good time to have a look and see if there’s anything you’re missing, like videos.
Going on vacation soon? Don’t forget to change your message on your phone and set an auto responder to reflect your availability and the date of your return. Include contact information for team members who will monitor your phone messages and emails.
When should your office call you, even during your vacation? The days of being completely unavailable are a luxury most of us just don’t have. But your team needs to be able to make a decision of what kind of issue requires a phone call to you, and what can wait for your return. Make sure those boundaries are clear. You deserve some time off, and your performance improves when you are well-rested.
